The Ten Minute Play Contest is a highlight of the SuperNova Theatre Festival. To inspire and encourage young people to write original works for the stage, the Ten Minute Play Contest is open to high school students in the province of Nova Scotia (grades 1012).

Four playwrights will have their plays rehearsed and given a staged reading by professional actors at the festival. The contest provides high school playwrights the opportunity to work with professional theatre artists and explore the many aspects of live theatre.

Deadline for student submissions is April 30, 2013

Drama Teacher’s Boot Camp

18 Aug

Melanie Kennedy will once again be offering her Drama Teacher’s Boot Camp. Please contact  Melanie directly to sign up for this session at mkennedy@staff.ednet.ns.ca. Here are the details:

The annual workshop for new drama teachers (or anyone else wanting to discuss ideas for teaching drama) will take place on Tuesday August 24 starting at 10:00 a.m. in room 202 at Auburn Drive High School. (I am leaving the end time open so people can stay as long as they would like.)

I will be sharing assignments, strategies for classroom management, and activities for grade 10, 11, & 12 drama for anyone interested. This session is free of charge. 🙂

Participants should email me directly (mkennedy@staff.ednet.ns.ca) to enroll (so I can get an idea of numbers), and if there is a specific area they would like covered, they can also email me questions and/or specific areas of interest and I will plan to cover those during the workshop.

People should bring a USB drive in case they would like electronic copies of my stuff.

Melanie’s resources can be found at http://hrsbstaff.ednet.ns.ca/mkennedy/
